Credit cards with accompanying rewards programs often come with annual fees as well as interest-free days. This type of cards is best suited for people who use their cards frequently. However, though this card provides many advantages to cardholders, it will come with high interest rates.

Advantages

-	Extremely low interest rates
-	Low credit limit
-	interest-free days
-	Introductory promo deals

Disadvantages

-	High interest rates for cash advances
-	Will cost more once the introductory period is over

For this reason, this card is not recommended for people who cannot pay more than the minimum monthly balance, mostly those that do not have a stable source of income. This is why no annual fee credit cards are the natural alternative for most people. This card often comes with interest-free days, usually around 50 days on purchases.

In addition to this, no annual fees cards come with low interest rates. Minimum monthly payments are also lower as compared to personal loans but this will come at a high interest rate. The low credit limit on no annual fees cards also has its advantage as it keep the card holder’s expenditures in check.

On the other hand, there are many people who are not aware that cash advances incurs higher interest rates of approximately 15% once you withdraw money through an ATM using your card. Note that transferring money through phone or internet from your card to your bank account is also considered as cash advance. Of course, some banks offer special introductory deals to prospective customers. These offers include low balance transfer rates for a specified duration of time, usually for the first six months or no annual fees for the first year.

While these special offers, particularly introductory low interest, may seem appealing, they are somewhat designed to dazzle and then trap uninformed clients. It will be quite a shock to discover that the promo has ended and the card reverts to the full rate. This is why it is crucial to read the fine print before you sign any documents.

When somebody wishes to be knowledgeable about how to fix bad credit, among the first things they will most likely want to do is to get credit cards with a low limit and make certain to make the payments on a regular basis.

By doing this you will begin to raise your credit score ratings and in time you will be able to qualify for higher credit limits or even a larger loan amount if that is what you are hoping to do. Still, you need to keep in mind that when you apply for these cards, if you have too many credit lines or loans that are already open, you will only hurt your credit even more.

Shop around for the right card that will suit your own monetary needs.

There are countless different types of credit cards available and some of them will offer more incentives but may perhaps have a higher interest rate. Look for cards that have cash back incentives with a low interest rate. You may also want to find a card that has zero rewards but has the lowest interest rate if you plan to have a running balance on the card.

An additional thing to keep in mind is to always and I mean always read the fine print before applying for a credit card as some will offer a low limit and by the time you in fact get the card you will have previously been charged enough to have a zero available balance. Read the fine print!

Start Out Slowly.

Start off with a single account and use it often for purchases you may normally pay cash for. Make certain to pay the balance at the end of each month as this is what is going to help you to fix your credit. In other words, use the card but make the payments on time every time so that your payment history is in good standing when the credit card company sends your report to the reporting agencies.

When you apply for a loan, a lender will look at your payment history to see that you are a trustworthy person who makes their payments on time.

If you only use your card once or twice you will not have a good payment history even if you have made those payments on time. Your credit report will show several years of payments and this is what a lender is going to look for when considering you for any type of loan.

Another thing to keep in mind is to be sure not to use your card frequently to the point where you are maxed out and can’t make the payments because this will only serve to show that you may well just get yourself into a financial bind and lenders do not want to see this.

Keep your credit in good status.

Making these regular payments is just a slight part of your credit score ratings. Keeping your credit in good standing is something else you will want to be sure to do. You can do this by closing any card accounts that you never use any more for the reason that even if you are not using them they still reflect on your score as open accounts and that means you will have less available credit when it comes time to buy a car or purchase a home.

Get your credit report each year. You are eligible to receive your credit report for free every year so take advantage of that and when you get it be certain to look at it in detail to be sure there are no errors etc. Catching any errors quickly will be the first step in getting them corrected quickly so that your credit score will always be in good standing.

Knowing how to fix bad credit actually isn’t as frightening as some may possibly believe but you have to know where you are at and begin to move forward from there.

There are several credit cards in Australia that offer travel rewards that exceed just the basics. Many credit cards offer benefits such as frequent flyer miles and point based systems but these cards are often difficult to redeem points with and they can often be quite confusing in terms of transferring points from your card to your frequent flyer program. However, there is a new breed of travel based credit cards that make Australian travel much easier and cheaper. The ANZ Frequent Flyer credit card is one of those cards and it is a piece of plastic that helps travelers travel more often and with less hassle.

The Frequent Flyer card stands out from the crowd because it has several benefits that other cards don’t, including: automatic credits to your Qantas frequent flier account, bonus points for certain purchases, a long interest free purchase period, online banking and a low balance transfer rate for the entire first year. The Flyer card is among the new breed of credit cards in Australia that is geared more toward the consumer then the credit card company.

Since this travel rewards card is meant for the frequent flyer, it works great if you already belong to the Qantas frequent flyer program. The more you spend on your card the more points that you get in your account. As a matter of fact, all the money that you put onto your ANZ frequent flyer card will translate to bonus points on your account automatically. You do not have to jump through hoops like other credit card companies make you do. There are no phone calls to make or emails to send because your points automatically transfer over. Plus, just by using the frequent flyer card at certain places, any Bonus Partners Australia (including Qantas), you can earn even more bonus points. Often you will earn twice the rewards from using your card on Qantas purchases.

The ANZ frequent flyer credit card makes traveling all that much easier but it offers other rewards as well. The low interest rate on purchases is another big reason so many card holders love it. You start off with 44 days of interest free purchases. This means that you can make purchases your very first day with the card and not actually pay for them in full until 44 days down the road. After this “intro” period is over you still get a 2.9% APR for the rest of the year.

The ANZ frequent flyer credit card is among the newer Australian credit cards that can be used for a variety of travel related purposes. These ‘travel cards’ are efficient in helping frequent flyers travel more effectively.

So you have a credit card but you want to make sure that your monthlies are lighter than what they are now? You can do that by doing a credit card balance transfer. You will need another credit card or a zero percent credit card to make this happen. But when you do this balance transfer, you can be sure that you will have a monthly payment that is lighter than you were originally used to. This means that you can better balance your expenses and get rid of your debt at the same time.

Credit or bank card balance transfer procedures are not complicated at all. You just need to know the requirements before you call your agent to make the transfer happen. First of all, you will need another card where you will be transferring your balance to. Of course, to get a new card or a zero percent credit card, you will need to have a good credit history so make sure to get your credit standing information first before you apply for another card. You can literally save thousands of dollars if you qualify for another credit card and avail of a card balance transfer.

Transferring the balance is simple but you need to find out how much of it you want to transfer so that your monthly payments will be light. Look at what you owe so far and calculate a reasonable figure that you want to transfer to your new card. You will not regret that you made this decision at all in the long run.

Have you got a rewards credit card?

Yes? Ok…next question.

Is your rewards card the right one for your spending habits and financial needs?

Not all rewards cards are created equally, so while some have excellent rewards programs, others can actually be a bit of a rip off.

Take for example the ANZ Balance Visa. On this card you get cash back rewards for your repayments rather than your expenses. You can compare this to the Bendigo Red credit card which requires you to spend over $8000 more to get just a $50 reward.

So what do need to know?

Well if you’ve got one already you’ll no doubt be able to find out the information pretty easily from your bank. But if you’re searching for a new card, make sure you check what the rewards earn rate is (how much money you need to spend to earn a rewards point), and also the rewards redemption rate (how many points you need to redeem to get a certain reward).

Usually credit card providers will quite happily offer up the earn rate in their information pack as a way to entice you into getting their card. However, this is not the case with the redemption rate, which usually requires quite a bit of searching in order to get wind of it.

Why?

Because it’s the telling factor into the real value of your rewards card. So if you’re a big spender with your rewards card or there are a number of other features that are of great value to you (and the rewards are just an added bonus) then the rewards earn and redemption rates are maybe not so crucial to your finances.

However if the opposite is the case and you really want a rewards card then checking the rates mentioned above is vital for your financial well being.

There is another element to this issue though, and that is when you take into account such rewards programs as the one available at St George.

The reason this credit card rewards program gets a special mention is because rather than spending money and earning points for a reward, you actually get instant discounts at a huge range of retailers around Australia when you use your St George credit card.

So the benefits you receive are instantly received rather than having to wait until you’ve earned enough points for the rewards that you want.

The problem with reward credit cards – or the most forgotten problem, for there are several – is collecting the points, cashback or other rewards once they’ve been accrued.

This is an issue frequently overlooked by those that compare credit cards with reward schemes but it can end up being an irritating or even costly mistake – as unclaimed rewards stack up and undo the cardholder’s good work.

The problem is particularly significant in the case of point schemes such as supermarket rewards and airmiles.

These schemes often require the bearer to spend more in order to redeem the points. For example, in the case of airmiles the miles can often only be redeemed as a discount on an expensive flight from a major carrier such as British Airways or Virgin.

This is also often true of supermarket reward points schemes such as Sainsbury’s Nectar points and Tesco’s Clubcard points although their scope tends to be greater: allowing card holders to get money off cinema tickets and days out as well as groceries.

They tend to be eliminated, on the other hand, when one conducts a cash back credit card comparison.

In almost all cases, these forms of borrowing credit the rewards directly to the account so they are effectively distributed.

On the other hand, the return on such forms of spending tends to be lower. Another alternative are utility bill cash back credit cards.

For example, the MBNA BT card rewards credit card users who use it for purchases.

The money that comes back in cash back comes directly off the card holder’s BT phone bill – no messing around with points schemes and a lot more genuinely useful than cashback.

If the card holder’s bill is less than their cashback the amount will be rolled over so they’ll start the next month with a credit on their phone bill.

This is just an example of the kind of reward card scheme which makes it easier to collect rewards on plastic but there are many more in a similar vein.

For those who are still keen to take their rewards on plastic with points there are a number of points to keep in mind.

First, setting up a goal for the points – a particular set of tickets or amount of discount that you want to achieve – could help. In this case, collecting the points would be easier since it would come as the peak.

Second, investigating the ways to collect the points schemes available thoroughly before application is essential.

Initially, when the credit card concept had just been introduced, for quite some time later there used to be an annual or yearly fee charged to the customer. There was lot of resentment and this fee slowly got eliminated. Nowadays, most credit cards come with a no annual fee offer and the marketing companies are utilizing this as a marketing gimmick. Most banks and financial institutions do not charge an annual fee and hence, the customer can look for additional features before deciding on a credit card.

This “no annual fee” does not strictly mean that there are no fees at all. It is the responsibility of the customer to read the entire document before signing for a new card. Service charge is the fee levied if the customer is unable to pay the entire balance every month. An additional fee, in the range of $35, is charged in case the customer goes over the individual credit card limit. There is a late fee charged in case the payment is delayed.

There are many credit card companies that offer no interest for an introductory phase, which enables the customer to clear his balances without any interest- accrues. There are also other attractive offers in terms of cash back and air miles rewards. Depending on the customer’s current financial outlook, the credit card companies offer cards that suit the customer’s requirements. Some cards offer best low interest as well as 0% interest rate for the first year for both, balance transfers and new purchases. It is generally an option offered to people with the best credit ratings.

People are generally fond of affordable and inexpensive credit cards and so credit card companies are always coming up with new low interest rate credit cards, with no annual fee, that corresponds to the customer’s needs.

A 0% interest credit card balance transfer can go a long way in alleviating financial stress. I know that with a lot of Americans the feeling of being overwhelmed can be quite stifling. If you happen to carry a high amount of credit card debt you may feel as though you will never get it completely paid off.

Compounding this problem is the fact that many credit card issuers will raise the Interest rates on people carrying substantial debt because they are considered to be a greater credit risk. Sounds cold doesn’t it? They just keep piling it in.

If this is your present situation then you can at least take some solace in the fact that you are not alone. More and more Americans find themselves deeper and deeper in debt. There are many reasons for this and really no reason to go into that here. That is an exhaustive subject unto its own.

A viable solution can be found in 0% interest credit card balance transfers. They are becoming an increasingly popular way to consolidate and manage credit card debt. And credit card issuers including Bank of America, American Express, Discover Card and Chase are eager to issue them.

These are great promotional instruments for the banks and credit card companies. What they are actually hoping for are to, of course, gain new customers. But ultimately they know that many of these new customers will carry the debt that they transferred beyond the introductory period.

They have this down to a science and know full well that the majority of people are going to do just that. And the credit card company rakes in huge profits from the interest payments. But I’m here to say that it doesn’t have to be that way.

Take advantage of 0% interest balance transfer credit cards by setting up an aggressive payment schedule. Most introductory rates last between 6-12 months. Do some quick math and see how much you would need to pay back each month to pay off the debt before the introductory rate expires.

And take heart. Even if you can’t afford to pay it off in full you most certainly can take advantage of the zero percent interest and pay off a substantial portion of it. And now you are well on your way to being free of credit debt and those nasty interest rates.

Qantas frequent flyer points are available with many credit card providers. Qantas itself does not offer a credit card. It simply offers a partnership with credit card providers so that you can take advantage of accumulating points as you use your credit card.

Almost every major bank including ANZ, Westpac, Commonwealth Bank, Suncorp and NAB issue Qantas labelled cards. The cards are available as Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Diners Club, each with their own range of features, benefits and fees.

Interest rates applicable to each card will be determined by the credit provider and will be available to you on application. You should also be aware that annual fees apply to most cards and different interest rates may apply to cash advances. One other thing to consider carefully is the rate at which point accumulate, most will be one point for every dollar spent but some programs offer 1.25 points for every dollar spent.

Rates and fees are changing all the time so it is best to do some comparisons before you make your final decision.

The Qantas frequent Flyer Credit Card program offers you an extraordinary array of benefits. They have over 400 partners around the world through which you redeem products and services from the points you have accrued.

The program lets you start out with a Bronze membership and as you accumulate points you progress through Silver, Gold and finally Platinum levels each of which allow you an increasing variety of benefits. You can use your points to redeem your rewards at the Qantas online shop or you can also use the points to purchase flights or flight upgrades.

You can increase the number of points you accrue when shopping with your credit card at any of the 400+ partners with which Qantas has partnered. These partners offer special promotions at various times which can allow you to accumulate extra points rapidly, and the same time take advantage of their products. You can also check your progress online at any time.

Remember that you don’t have to fly with Qantas all the time either! Qantas has partnership arrangements with 24 other airlines so you are not limited in how you can fly or accumulate points.

A great feature of this program is that you can accumulate points with each partner as well as the frequent flyer program meaning that each time you use your credit card, you not only accumulate flyer points, but also points with specific partners! That way you get twice the credit.

Think of how easy it will be, knowing that you can use your card at Woolworth or Coles to buy your weekly groceries and rack up frequent flyer credit card points at the same time. It doesn’t take long for points to add up!

After you have enough points you can go on saving them until you are able to take free flights, get free flight upgrades, or simply to purchase luxury items.

It just doesn’t get any better than this and it makes sense to sign up for free and start accumulating points straight away.

There are so many different credit cards available that there is also limitless information available on the internet about these cards, how to compare them and which one is right for you. One feature of credit cards which is advertised quite heavily is a balance transfer rate or offer running on a certain credit card, but before you go comparing offers, find out what it really means.

A balance transfer is going to be attractive to you if you have a significant card debt. By transferring that debt to a balance credit card you will be able to benefit from more time to repay your debt and lower interest rates. However, the choices available to you in balance transfer cards is as varied as those choices available when choosing any other sort of financial product so you need to compare each offer based on its rates and fees before you choose a card with a balance transfer. Remember, some cards have transfer fees where as others will not, check the terms and conditions before applying.

One type of balance transfer offer you may be considering is the 0% interest balance transfer, however it is the lifetime balance transfer credit cards which we will describe here, for those of you who have large credit card debt to repay, or want to stretch your repayments over a longer period of time. A lifetime balance transfer credit card applies a low interest rate to your transferred balance for longer than the standard 12 month period of a 0% interest card. It is important to note that not all lifetime balance transfers are for a lifetime, some are just for a little longer than normal, for example one to five years; if you do some careful shopping you can also find lifetime balance transfer credit cards which offer a low rate for the life of the balance, no matter how long that may be. A lifetime balance transfer credit card also offers a very low interest rate, and where the standard interest rate on a credit card is around 17%, where a balance transfer credit card can offer an interest rate at an average of 1.43%.

Before you choose a lifetime balance transfer card, make sure it is right for you; are you someone who doesn’t want to chase the 0% interest balance transfer offers and fill out new applications when the end of the promotional period is approaching? Are you struggling with your credit card debt and can’t meet your monthly repayments easily, or just want to be able to make more of a dent in your debt? Then you could benefit from comparing the many balance transfer offers available online or in your local bank branch.

Important Trap to avoid when using a card you have recently transferred your balance to
When you transfer a balance to a new card there is 1 trap that can get you slugged with high 11+% interest rates. Logically you would imagine that if you made new purchases on a credit card and repaid them within the interest free period everything would be fine. Unfortunately this is not the case, when a new purchase is added to a card that has an existing balance on it, the balance is repaid with any repayments you make and the new purchases are left to gather interest. It is crucial that you do not make new purchases on your new card that you transfer your balance to to avoid this situation.

How to avoid the transferred balance card trap and still have enough money for day to day living
An easy way to avoid this trap is to keep your existing card open and make new purchases on it. Your existing card will have its balance paid off by the new card you have opened. Your old card will have your same credit limit that you had before and you might have already paid for the annual fee. When you make the purchases ensure you payoff your balance before the end of the interest free period to avoid paying extra interest. The crucial thing here is to use your new card to repay your debt and use your old card to pay for day to day expenses. The easy thing to do is to just close your old card because it is too much of a temptation, although it is best to keep it to finance your living and avoid the extra interest you could incur.

Note: This is dependent upon the terms and conditions of the card that you select. You should always read and consider the terms and conditions of the card that you apply for. The key areas to consider are the repayment, interest free days calculation and the fees sections.
